I was passing thru Lake Charles, Louisiana (nov.1,2011 around noon) going back up north to
Gillet, Wisconsin and I must admit I had the most amazing food I've ever tasted !!! The outside of the place didn't look like it's in top shape but once your inside you feel like your at home from the manager to the employees they are the best. They were very sociable and helpful,
I had a hard time deciding on what I want and the cook not only help me save money but also help me experience great food by introducing me to the captain's platter. I will be back thanks for everything.

I came thru Lake Charles on Friday, October 14th. I was going to visit my Husband in Sabine Pass, TX. Him and his crew have stopped in to eat here, and he has always said it was good. I decided to try it. It was exactly as he said. Delicious, so good. Never had good Cajun seafood like that. It is the best I have ever eaten, Seasoned just right. Ty for the wonderful Hospitality. Visited Bill's on the way back to Texas (thanks Yelp!!!)..Was introduced to
boudin balls, shrimp and crawfish pistolettes....OMG....out of this world...boudin balls seasoned perfectly and the pistolettes (Louisiana rolls which are delish...stuffed with shrimp or crawfish mixture...Ohhhh..) Heavenly....and, tried the small captain's platter (some of everything)...the catfish and the fried shrimp were standouts...very FRESH and not greasy.. again, great seasoning. . The platter (small) was huge! Needless to say, we had two to-go-boxes. Awesome food and good, fast service. This will be a regular stop when we are in the area....for sure! Yummmm...........

I have lived in South Louisiana for my entire life. I had never heard of Steamboat Bill's until my family told me about it. It is certainly one of my favorite places to eat now! If you want Seafood done right, this is the place to go. Great atmosphere, huge portions, and amazing seafood. I will certainly be back soon!

My family and I visited Lake Charles this weekend 7/15-1/17/2011. We had been advised to try Steamboat Bill's by my cousin who lives in LC. We were not disappointed. The food was fantastic, the service impeccable, the restaurant clean. The aroma when we entered the restaurant was to die for. The only bad thing about the entire visit was how hard it was to make a decision on what entree to pick. Like that is a bad thing. Thank you for a wonderful experience, See you next time we visit.

My husband and I came out to Lake Charles to visit from New Jersey, we stayed with a friend from childhood. Diana has lived in Lake Charles most of her life. I told her I wanted to experience true Cajun food. I did not want her to cook! She did not hesitate, she took us to Steamboat Bill's for delicious gumbo, pistolette's, and my first experience with crawfish and Boudin sausage. What a sheltered life I have led, I want to live in Lake Charles so I can eat this great food all the time! Steamboat Bill's is great fun, provides huge portions (and gratis beads) the staff is so much fun. This was an all over GREAT dining experience

I was born and grew up in LC, but moved away years ago. My dad loved your restaurant and would take me there when I was visiting from out of town (Austin, TX). I was NEVER disappointed. Part of what always made it so great was the family-like feel and kindness of the staff. My dad recently passed away and one of your staff members (Kathi) sent a beautiful plant and a very kind personal message. The best place to go for amazingly fresh seafood. Great shrimp
etouffee! The portions are large so the captains platter serves two easily. Service is friendly, efficient, and snappy. Highly recommended with 5 starfish!

I'm from South Texas and enjoy Cajun food when I can get it. We went to Steamboat Bill's on MLK Hwy. This is place is 'slap your mama good!' We had the fried catfish and shrimp and the batter was nice and flaky, the best I've ever tasted. The red beans and rice were very tasty. Those
Louisiana rolls are awesome, kinda like a croissant. The smothered okra with shrimp and sausage over rice was fabulous as the spices were like music to my mouth. All I can say is this place didn't look all that from the outside but OMG, the food and the staff were superb!! I will definitely be back when I come to Lake Charles. My only recommendation would be to sell Abita Beer at the restaurants.

I was traveling from Tx to PA and was looking for some good grub. I didn't just hit a home run when I stopped at Steamboat Bill's. I hit a grand slam! The dinner was incredible. The pistolettes were out of this world! The shrimp, crawdads, and oysters were fantastic. The southern hospitality was amazing-to a Yankee none the less. I had a great time, left a big tip, and hugged the hostess on the way out. It doesn't get any better than Steamboat Bill's!!!!!

OMG!!! I just died and went straight to heaven. The food here is
divine, definitely comfort food. I was visiting my relatives in Jennings, LA for my grandfather's 100th birthday celebration from California (Palo Alto to be exact). As always when traveling we are a little hesitant to try a Restaurant we don't know, but last week we stopped in (got lost, but found you) and ordered the jumbo
breaded breading was so delicate) shrimp and Crawfish Etouffee (with just the right balance of flavor & spice). Both were incredible! We were served the most melt in your mouth Bread Rolls. I wish they would share the recipe as we live in New Jersey and only travel to Texas every 6 months. Oh well, it is worth waiting for!

Loved it! Love it! Lake Charles- half way mark between San Antonio, TX and Ocean Springs, MS. My three nieces were in San Antonio for a week. On July 31st, we met their parents in Lake Charles to return them. I am so glad we met in Lake Charles; otherwise, we would not have experienced such delicious food. I love to cook and not always happy with the food when we eat out. My husband and I will be making more trips to Lake
Charles just to eat at 'Steamboat Bills'' I have to taste other items on the menu. I was a bit disappoint you did not have Lone Star or Lone Star Light beer. It taste extremely good with seafood. I settled for a Corona instead.

My friend Sara and I have left Texas several times to go eat lunch at your Lake Charles Restaurant. We absolutely love the Pistolette's ,
Etouffee and of course the great Po-Boys. It's worth the drive every time and the only down side is having to drive back home. We look forward to every trip though.
Your staff is awesome and I have never left there hungry. In fact, I have to pack up leftovers to bring back home, which is always a good thing.

We were in your establishment on Friday 4/17/09 to eat dinner and we
just wanted to say THANK YOU for a wonderful experience. From the greeter, to
the cashier, to the seater, to the wait staff, to the busboy, we were made to
feel valued. The atmosphere was very comfortable and clean. We had gone to

food was also very yummy. I've had gastric bypass surgery and as a result I
